Hi, my name is Ken Reimer, and I am organizing a fund-raiser to support Dwight Dunfield's transition to living at home with his family. Dwight is well known in Fredericton as an upper level physics teacher at FHS, for directing FHS musical productions, running summer school programs, umpiring baseball games, and volunteering at his local church. My wife and I are good family friends, fellow members at Brunswick St Baptist Church, and occasional bridge partners.

Dwight is a living miracle, who survived an aortic dissection Nov 28, 2024, and has undergone multiple surgeries to save his life. Now at the Stan Cassidy Rehabilitation Centre, his medical team believes he will be ready to go home in the Fall 2025.

The need is for three main items:

• An electric wheelchair

• A minivan that equipped to transport him and his wheelchair

• Modifications to his home, making adaptations to a bedroom, bathroom, and entrance/exits.

• A transfer lift

The total cost for all this is likely well over $100,000, but the family is tapping into various government and charitable programs that will subsidize a significant part of the expenses. The estimated need that will not be covered elsewhere is around $60,000.

The Dunfields are so grateful that many have already given using various gift cards, bringing meals, and providing free services.

This is a one-time fund-raiser, as the normal living expenses should be covered by his employer's disability insurance plan. Any gifts will help, and will be much appreciated.
