Dwayne "Stack" Smith Funeral Fund

Our beloved Dwayne - devoted son and father - has been taken from us.

Dwayne "Stack" Smith was brutally murdered on October 10, 2019 on  Flatbush Ave. He was shot at close range, on the block where he lived and hung out, in his favorite deli.

He died within an hour of being shot, and by Friday morning the candles were piled high at the stoop where he sat every day

Dwayne "Stack" was an incredible human. At 41 years old, he was a fixture in the neighborhood of Flatbush, Brooklyn. He was always looking out for everyone - walking people home late at night, checking in on the elderly in the neighborhood, making the children laugh. His favorite holiday was Halloween, when he would put on a scary mask, and would give candy out to everyone on the block. He was a long time resident of the neighborhood, living on Lenox for many years, before moving over to Flatbush Ave. His mother called him "the mayor of Flatbush because everyone knew him. He made the streets feel safe." His children considered him a hero, a man who knew everything, and was always there for them.

He was fun, and funny, and when he laughed, you could see the little boy inside him, and the joy he had inside of him.

In 2018, he ran into a burning building to make sure the families that lived on the higher floors had a chance to get out. His dedication to his community and to the ones he loved was unrivaled.

Dwayne was a director and producer of music videos, currently involved in producing and directing an independent film "Raw's Committee." He was an actor in the neighborhood YouTube TV show, Tuff City, and has worked on numerous films as a part of the tech crew. He was creative, always pushing towards the next project, making moves, and building

Dwayne is survived by his mother, Cecile "Grams", his seven children, his thirteen siblings, his one grandchild (and the two that are on the way). He was loved by many, and his death has been a shock to his close-knit community of Flatbush.

We are raising funds for his funeral which is set to take place early November  2019 in Brooklyn, NY at Caribe Funeral Home. All proceeds go directly to his funeral fund, managed by his aunt. We are looking to raise the funds within the next two weeks.  Please help us celebrate his life, and mourn his death. Your donation makes a big difference to his family and friends, and is greatly appreciated.
