As a middle school teacher in San Francisco Unified School District, I work with many incredible students every day who have a variety of academic skills and challenges. The students I serve are in 6th, 7th and 8th grade and are working on mastering math skills ranging from elementary to high school level. Most instructional resources available to students working on foundational skills use non-age appropriate language and hold low expectations. However, an exciting new curriculum is available that is tied to Common Core standards, is rigorous while being individualized, and is age appropriate.

Equals Math is a mathematics curriculum designed to help reach students working on foundational skills and beyond. It encompasses pre-readiness math skills (attending, cause and effect, etc.), fundamental math skills (numbers and operations, measurement, and estimation), and higher order math skills. The cost of a curriculum kit, teacher training, and online lab is $1900.

I would love to implement this curriculum at my school site. However, my school does not have the extra money in the budget for Equals Math. It is an investment that I know will make a difference in all of the students' lives. Any amount you can donate to help bring this curriculum into students' hands would be so greatly appreciated!
