Help Bagel Get Surgery

Donation protected
Hi Friends,

My name is Bagel and I need a little help from you all to get healthy. Some of you know my backstory but for those of you who don’t, I was brought in to Austin Animal Center as a stray in October 2020. The shelter is a scary place for a sweet li’l lady like myself, so naturally I was a little wary of making friends. Slowly, but surely I started coming out of my shell and once I did there was no turning back- I quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite. One of my staff besties even started featuring me on her TikTok account and that’s how I know so many of you.

As time went on at the shelter, and I continued to get overlooked at, I started to get a little sad. I lost weight, my eyes began to turn red due to the lack of sleep, and my spirits got low. In stepped my amazing foster momma!! She scooped me up to give me a shelter break with the hopes of getting the large lump on my back looked at by a vet.

I’m happy to report that home life suits me! I love lounging around the house cuddled up in my blankets, taking long walks to check out all the new sniffs, and getting visits from my shelter friends. But, I did see that vet and that’s where y’all come in! I need your help raising the funds so I can have surgery.

The good news is the lump on my back is not cancerous. Yay! The bad news is that it need to be removed so it doesn’t continue to grow and rupture. Also, during my examination the vet
noticed that one of my front canines is rotten. It needs to be removed bc it’s been hurting me for quite some time now. I have another large lump on my front right wrist, but my vet lady says I’ll eventually need to see a specialist to get that one removed too.

But, first things first… next Wednesday, October 6th, I am going to have surgery to remove the cystic skin tumor on my back and extract my rotten canine tooth. I’m also going to get a full dental cleaning to make sure there aren’t any more painful teeth in my mouth. After my surgery my foster momma is going to spoil me with all the lovin’, yummy soft treats (ice cream yay!!!), and continue getting me healthy so that I’m ready to go home with my forever humans for good.

I would greatly appreciate it if you’d consider donating to my fund! This past year has been rough, but things are finally feeling like there on the up and up for me! I know that I have a long, happy life ahead of me I just need some help getting these things taken care of first.

The awesome folks over at Friends of AAC (Austin Animal Center’s volunteer run nonprofit) are going to help cover some of some of the expenses. Thank you, Friends!!! In total, my surgery is estimated to be $1,300-$1900. One of my shelter friends has already covered my pre-op vet visits, x-rays, and bloodwork tests. Any and all funds raised over the $1,500 you see here will go directly to the next step in my journey to getting healthy, which is seeing a specialist to address the second lump on my front right wrist.

Thank you for reading my story and considering donation to my fundraiser. I’ve been so lucky to get this far with your support, comments on my posts, and social media shares to help my find my forever home! I’m still looking, but I know my people are out there and I can’t wait to meet them as the healthiest, best version of myself!!!

xoxo and lots of love,
Bagel
