Kerala Flood Relief

Appeal for Donations - unprecedented rains and floods in Kerala

Dear friends - We welcome your online donations to support relief efforts for those affected by the tragic floods in Kerala. As you may seen in the news, many parts of Kerala are submerged with unprecedented levels of flooding. Millions of our brothers and sisters face acute shortages of drinking water, food, clothing, and other basic necessities. Some of us from the Kerala atheist / rationalist community in the United States have come together to set up a GoFundMe fundraising account so that we could collect donations to support various relief efforts in Kerala. The link to our GoFundMe account is here -

You can conveniently pay online using your credit card or bank account. At this point our plan is to transfer the collected funds to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, the details of which are available here - (We may send funds to other reputed relief agencies too if we are convinced that they are reliable.) We would encourage you to transfer money directly to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund if you are able to do so, but we know that transfering funds directly to an Indian bank account may not be easy for Indian expatriates living in other countries. That is why we set up this GoFundMe account so that you can conveniently make donations online using your credit card or bank account.

Every week or ten days we will publish details of funds collected and confirmation that the funds have been transferred to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, so you can be sure that your funds are being handled in a responsible manner. This fundraising effort is being supervised by a committee that includes the following members - (1) Partha Sarathy, Los Angeles; (2) Pradeepan Kunhiraman, Chicago; (3) Sameer Cholayil, Dallas; (4) Nimmy Jacob, Los Angeles; (5) Pranev Prem, Los Angeles; and (6) E. A. Jabbar, San Francisco / Bay Area. The GoFundMe account where we collect donations is linked to the personal bank account of Partha Sarathy, based in Los Angeles. Please be aware that GoFundMe charges a commission of 2.9% plus $0.30 for processing credit card and debit card donations, as explained here - If you have any questions or suggestions, please email us at - partha (dot) [email redacted] (dot) com.
