Hi, my name is Taylor Bruinooge and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Millie (Milica) Babic who lost everything after Hurricane Ian. Millie is actually my parents, Aaron and Julie Bruinooge, 48-year-old neighbor. They live in Fort Myers, FL where the category 4 hurricane made landfall on Wednesday afternoon. Residents have seen their community in pieces caused by over 150 mph winds and a 16 ft storm surge in some areas. Thankfully my parents were able to shelter in place in their second-floor condo and only lost their vehicles. Millie was not as fortunate. They asked me to organize this fundraiser because of the damage that Millie's first-floor condo sustained. She waited out the high water levels from the storm surge with her small dog Tito. Although they remain without power, Millie got straight to work to clear out her home to prevent molding. Her family is unable to provide support as they are located out of the state and country. We are seeking donations to cover whatever costs arise as she digs herself out of this devastating event. My parents and other neighbors are helping with physical labor but monetary assistance is required to help her through this. Any amount will make a difference to Millie and Tito who are beyond grateful for your help. All proceeds will go directly to Millie, screen shots will be provided as transfers are made as proof. This community will not rebuild without our help.
I am unable to post photo updates because they are still without strong cell service but I will continue to post updates as they come in.
**10/1 update - Millie is now staying with my parents for the foreseeable future.
