Want to join Chloe in making a difference? For Chloe's Bat Mitzvah Project, she is raising money to benefit The Hospital For Special Surgery Fund Inc (The Hospital For Special Surgery Foundation), and any donation will help make an impact. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this special cause.
The Mission of Hospital for Special Surgery is to provide the highest quality patient care, improve mobility, and enhance the quality of life for all, and to advance the science of orthopedic surgery, rheumatology, and their related disciplines through research and education. We do this regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, or ethnic origin.

Chloe and HSS
Upon discovering a unicameral bone cyst that had fractured Chloe’s femur and threatened blood supply to the growth plate in her hip, Chloe underwent emergency surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery when she was in the first grade. The treatment by Dr. David Scher and the care she received from the Child Life Program and Pediatric Department was simply incomparable.

For Chloe’s Bat Mitzvah project, she has chosen to express her gratitude to HSS by supporting the Pediatric Department and its mission to provide a superior hospital experience for all children, regardless of socioeconomic background. The Child Life Program works to make hospital experiences more fun for children by providing holiday gifts to over 150 patients and their families annually, increasing Adaptive Sports Academy events, and installing uplifting artwork to brighten the clinical environment. Not only is this cause personal for Chloe, but she sees HSS’s effort to create equity in children’s healthcare as progress towards a more just world.

Chloe has begun volunteering with the Adaptive Sports Academy at HSS by helping children with physical limitations participate in activities that range from basketball hosted by the Brooklyn Nets, to dance with New York City Ballet. Other sports within the program include skiing, surfing, sailing, horseback riding and indoor rock climbing. Our family shares the Academy’s belief that sports instill self-confidence and fuller, more active lives for children. Furthermore, kids with disabilities are able to realize new skills, foster independence, reinforce therapy goals and encourage socialization among fellow patients.

The Adaptive Sports Academy is entirely supported by philanthropic funds and volunteer time from HSS staff and supporters, so we welcome any interest in joining us to get involved!

Thank you for your consideration,
