Hello, my name is Dajour I am a college graduate of St. Bonaventure University this year has been testing me and my ability to pick myself up as it first started right after the New Year when I totaled my car due to icy roads. Recently I was in an accident that caused major complications for me making life post-graduation even harder than it already was trying to make ends meet while living in a motel. I was hit by a car who fled the scene while I walking to the gas station in July and spent three and a half weeks in Montefiore in the Bronx dealing with heart failure, respiratory failure, I was deaf for a while, two broken ribs, rhabdomyolysis, possible compartment syndrome, peroneal injury as well as Drop Foot making it impossible to move my foot all on the left side of my body. For those that don’t know, Rhabdo is muscle break down and all the toxins in your muscles leak into your blood which puts your liver and kidneys at risk because it has to be filtered out somehow so I was put on several sessions of dialysis. When I weighed myself last July 4th, 2022, I weighed 186lbs. On July 18, 2022, I was weighed again at the hospital and the fluid brought my weight up to 221lbs after the second week of dialysis I was 198lbs, and after leaving the hospital in August I weighed 159lbs. I was out of the hospital for a few weeks until I had unexpected swelling in my left foot which was going up my leg so I was readmitted to Vassar hospital where I am currently at as of September 2nd. It is believed that I have an infection of the muscle in my leg. Having all these complications and being on a series of medications, nonstop seeing doctors has been depressing and debilitating. I am trying to get movement back in the foot but currently have no way of properly walking. I am out of any physical work and everything is getting harder in terms of my financial obligations while I get my body back in tact. I’m afraid that my lack of work will cause me to fall behind on my rent and other things such as my hospital bills, and unpaid phone bill. Not only is it affecting my financial obligations it has also affected the new job that I got before the accident. My recovery time will be a few months and could be permanent. I’m only 22 years old trying to handle everything so anything that could be donated is sincerely appreciated. Anyone without the means to donate please share with people you know.
