Josiah’s journey
Donation protected
Sometimes it’s in the most difficult times of our lives when we find courage to completely let go and rely on God to do his miraculous work of healing. And so we did. We rely on not our own understanding but on the power of prayer and love for one another.
Josiah was born on November 15th weighing just 3 pounds 12 ounces. We barely made the cut off for infant dialysis. ( Peritoneal dialysis) our son is currently in the NICU on dialysis. Josiah will need to stay on dialysis until he can receive a kidney transplant at about 1.5-2 years of age. In a few months will be able to take our son home and continue at home dialysis. Josiah will have countless doctor appointments in the years to come and we are committed to doing whatever we can to help our son have the best life he deserves. In the next few months we will need to transport Josiah by air to Seattle NICU for continued care until he is ready to be discharged for at home care.
Medical expenses are astronomical and will continue to climb in the years to come. Chris and I are committed to help Josiah and never allow cost of his treatment stop us from continuing Josiah’s treatments. At this time we have to rely on friends and family for financial support. Although we try to tackle everything on our own, we see that help is needed.
We don’t have the best medical insurance and what we have does not cover a lot but that does not stop us from helping Josiah. Financial stress can be extremely overwhelming during such critically medical times.
Please don’t feel obligated to but if it is on your heart then we appreciate any help you can offer. We are so blessed and thankful to have such amazing, loving, caring and supportive people in our lives. Josiah definitely has a purpose and a plan and we feel blessed to be chosen as his parents.
Below I wanted to get into our story from the beginning for those who don’t know how this journey started.
During our 12 week ultra sound we were told our son has LUTO ( lower urinary tract obstruction) and that complications may cause renal failure ( kidney failure ) of one or two kidneys. In our case we were hit with the most severe LUTO case as both of our sons kidneys completely failed and shut down by 18 weeks gestation. A fetus must have amniotic fluid in order to develop. This is especially vital for fetul lung development. Amniotic fluid is essentially made up of fetal urine and with a bilateral kidney failure there is zero urine production. This became a true emergency situation for us to save our son.
After countless appointments doctors gave up on our son and told us our only option is to carry to term without any intervention knowing he will not survive without amniotic fluid OR to terminate our pregnancy immediately. Those options were NOT for us so we turned to prayer for guidance and pure hope. We ended up traveling out of state to Dallas, Texas where we landed in the care of Dr Crumbleholme and Dr Magee, two amazing Fetal surgeons who did not give up on us but told us there IS hope.
In September I received Amnioport surgery that would allow doctors to do weekly infusions that would provide our son with amniotic fluid in hope to develop his lungs so he can breathe on his own. At 26 weeks gestation my water broke and I was admitted to the hospital until I would go into labor. During my stay at the hospital I continued to receive several weekly infusions. I ended up going into labor at 33 weeks and 1 day. Josiah was born via emergency c section due to placental abruption.
We have a very long road ahead of us but we are most definitely never giving up on our sweet precious Josiah!
Thank you to every single person reading this and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
With our hearts full of gratitude and love,
Chris, Narina and Josiah ❤️
