DVA Alpine Fire Fund

The Downtown Vegas Alliance, a member-driven nonprofit organization comprised of more than 70 diverse members doing business in downtown Las Vegas, has set up a GoFundMe account to support the 50+ victims of the Alpine Motel fire, the deadliest blaze in city of Las Vegas history.

According to Carolyn Wheeler, executive director of The Alliance, the GoFundMe account will be active from December 23 through December 28 so that the funds can be distributed to meet the immediate needs of the fire victims, who were left with virtually no possessions and no place to live after the entire building was deemed a total loss.

The Alliance is working with the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada and will convert the GoFundMe donations to gift cards that will be given directly to the victims.

“It is impossible to imagine what the Alpine Motel families are going through, especially given that we are in the midst of the holiday season,” said Wheeler. “Our Downtown Vegas Alliance community is heartbroken over this terrible tragedy and encourages everyone to donate the GoFundMe account so we can offer assistance as quickly as possible.” Link to USA Today Article
