Miles is a sweet little guy with an insane amount of energy. He’s a year and a half and I adopted him last year from a rescue. We didn’t know it then but Miles would slowly start to lose function of his hind legs. He has always had a bit of a splayed walk so he looked a little silly, and after getting a first opinion, it seemed to just be a classic case of being a mixed dog. Miles is a Husky mixed with German Shepherd; so naturally, he’s the most hyper and energetic pup around. Earlier this month, Miles started limping on one leg. The next day, his other hind legs began bleeding after a routine walk of his. My sister rushed him to the hospital and I left work as soon as I could. His back legs just stopped working. According to the doctors, there could be several reasons for this. Maybe his kneecaps just popped out of place, maybe they’ve been out of place since birth, maybe he has arthritis, maybe he has hip dysplasia, just so many maybes. Miles has to get X-rays and a surgery consult and that alone is $1000+ let alone what the actual surgery will be, assuming it’s just one surgery. Miles’ condition isn’t life threatening but he’s too young to have his quality of life be so low. No amount is too little, we really appreciate anything. Help us get Miles to walk like a normal pup!!
Update:
Miles has been diagnosed with bilateral grade 4 lateral patella luxation. Both of his legs will need to be operated on, on several separate occasions. He also may have an underlying hip issue that needs to be checked on as well. Surgery is the only chance that Miles has to be able to walk and live a better life again. Please share this with anyone you know and remember that anything helps, even just $1 ❤️
