On July 3, 2019, my mom went in for surgery to remove a blockage in her colon. Biopsies confirmed that the mass removed was cancer; however, the colon was not the primary site of the cancer. After undergoing multiple tests without any answers, she began her 6 month journey with traditional chemotherapy which ended with doctors telling us that the cancer has spread. From there, she was referred to a doctor out of state who performs a specialized surgery. On May 21, 2020, she went in for the surgery but unfortunately, more cancer was found and the doctor was unable to complete the needed procedure.
Since being home, recovering from surgery, my mom has spent hours researching and reading to find out what the best treatment plan is for her. She has seen numerous specialty doctors to try to figure out her unique case and find the best solution to give her the best fighting chance. The fact is that traditional chemotherapy alone will not cure her.
What she need is a series of treatments that will affect cancer cell metabolism, boost her immunity and destroy the cancer cells.
This healing route is not covered by insurance and needs to be fully funded out of pocket. She has since retired to focus on her healing. My mom is the most positive and spiritual person I know. Despite receiving this less than great news, she continues to stay upbeat, pray and truly believes that she will beat this! She has given her life to caring for others. She is mom to three children, one of whom has special needs, was a RN for 26 years and has always been there to help her family and her friends. If anyone deserves this, it’s her! If you know my mom, you know how GREAT a person she is. She has been an excellent mother to my siblings and I and a wonderful Mimi. She just loves her 3 grandchildren so much! She recently married the love of her life and they have plans for a long life together. She has so much to live for! Our family is reaching out to family, friends and the community to help try to ease the financial burden of paying for these expensive treatments. The donations will allow her to concentrate on her cancer treatments and recovery, as well as spend extra time with her family and friends. Any donations given would be appreciated.
