Duy's Best Friend Jax Faces Aggressive Cancer

Those of you who know our Brother, Duy, know the level of significance his Jack Russell Terrier best friend, Jax, holds in his life.

Cute and playful little Jax turned 13 this past summer. Sadly, around the same time, they discovered masses/tumors in his body that were since surgically removed. Unfortunately, the mass and tumors returned months later and have metastasized.

The dropping of our hearts and the feeling of devastation is quite an understatement.

According to PetMD, it has been recorded that over 50% of dogs over age 10 will develop cancer.

We learned that Jax has a chance of extending his life comfortably by 2 years should he respond well to monthly chemotherapy treatments. Without choosing this course of action, the veterinarian stated Jax would live, at most, only 3-12 weeks due to the aggressiveness of the tumor.

Lab work, blood, and vitals are frequently checked while Jax is on Palladia & Prednisone meds.

Not only do we wish we could take away Jax’s tumors and pain, we wish to alleviate the financial burden this has fallen upon our Brother.

The costs are staggering at best, but any amount of extended time and good quality of life we may gift him is worth it. Sharing the financial details may not be kosher in our society, but we believe in full transparency - it’s nearly $1,000/mo. for treatment.
