Mission For The Lepers and The Poor

Hello,

My name is Duyen Cao.   I am a wife, a mother of two wonderful children, and a nurse.   I have been a nurse for 19 years.   Some of my patients have asked me, " Why do you want to be a nurse?"  When I was in the refugee camps, without my parents, at the age of nine, the nurses were there to cleanse and tend my wounds.   The turning point of why I wanted to become a nurse was when I was in high school.   I stumbled upon a Time magazine covered famine in Africa with a picture of a child with huge sad glassy eyes.   He was just skin and bones and his stomach was bulging out.   I knew then I wanted to be a nurse so I can reach out to help.

For the last two years, I have made 5 missionary trips. I traveled to Belize and Nicaragua with VIMM, Volunteers in Medical Missions, providing medical care.   I am also one of the board members of the Damien the Leper Society.   I have traveled to remote areas in central highland Vietnam to teach wound care and provided wound care to the lepers.   I have provided financial support to build a house extension of an orphanage so that the children have proper rooms to sleep in.   I have bought bed and blankets for 60 children. I have also provided food portions for the poor in those areas.

I will travel to the remote areas in central highland Vietnam to help the lepers, the orphanages, and the less fortunate people again this October.   I am writing on the behalf of the lepers, the orphanages and the less fortunate people that I have the honor of working with asking for your support.   Any amount of your hard earned money will make a difference in these people's lives, and your support is greatly appreciated. Your money will be used for buying wound care supplies, medicines, water filter, and food supplies for them.  Thank you very much for your generosity and support.

Sincerely,

Duyen Cao
