Duxbury WWII Veterans Memorial Fund

Hello.
My name is Sam Shotz. I am a Boy Scout in Duxbury’s Troop 62. To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, I’ve been working on a project with the Duxbury American Legion Post 223 to replace the towns WWII Veterans Honor Roll. My job was to facilitate the new memorial’s design, submit a proposal for a State Grant, and to raise $5,000 through earning and other fundraising campaigns.
While I’ve completed my Eagle Project, the Duxbury American Legion still needs your help to meet their goal of raising $22,500 for the memorial project.
I hope that you will consider donating to the campaign to help fund the new Duxbury WWII Veterans Memorial. I think that replacing the current badly damaged memorial is a very worthwhile project, and I can think of no better way to honor the greatest generation’s contributions to our nation’s freedom than with a new stone monument that will stand the test of time.
Project Details:
Today, the WWII honor roll is a 4x6 foot PVC and Plexiglass enclosure which has been badly damaged by the elements. The nameplates inside have all warped and cracked and the outside is pitted and worn. There are stone monuments at this same site that honor the Korean War, Vietnam War and the Gulf Wars. As the WWII veterans pass into the next life at an alarming rate, Post 223 was determined to create a memorial in line with the other Memorials before the last of the remaining 7 members of the Post passed onto their greater rewards and their final post. The new memorial will be made of stone and will represent a lasting tribute to those who served, those who sacrificed their lives, and will more appropriately represent the significance of WWII.
