Dutt's Deschutes

Hi, my name is Molly Holmberg Brown and I was a friend and classmate of Andrew Dutterer. As all of us who knew Dutt would agree, the loss of his extraordinary light in the world is excruciating to accept. I think of him often, listening to his brilliant playlists and find myself asking how I can live life more like Dutt. I know many of us do.
To help us remember him and honor his buoyant, caring, conservation-minded Choctaw-fisherman-river-rat-budding-surfer-spirit, I would like to create a 18" x 48" custom acrylic painting of the Deschutes River and the Oregon landscape that he loved. It will show the water flow from alpine lakes through the white water and fishing holes on the river, and on out to sea and the western sky beyond. I am an artist and map-maker and create custom 'mapscapes' for a living, so this is in my wheelhouse. (mollymaps )
Here's what I'd like to do:
1) I'd like to give the original painting as a gift of support to his wife Caitlin and son Henry. My hope is that this original painting will hang on Henry's wall and will remind him of the places his dad loved.
2) Prints of the painting will be available not only to Andrew's community, but to all Oregon and Deschutes lovers via my website and in select locations in Oregon. A large portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Wild Salmon Center in Andrew Dutterer's name as he would have wished. And I have also learned that anonymous donor will match these donations! Your donation now helps drive this expanding project forward.

Typically, a custom painting of this size and detail would cost at least $3,500 - 4,500 (including research and design, materials, painting time, professional photography, and artwork shipment, print production). I estimate it will take about six weeks to complete.
Donations of $100 or more will receive $50 off any print purchase. You will receive a promo code from me when fundraiser is complete. Prints (examples here ) will come in two sizes and be approximately $100 - 300. Or just connect with me to make something specific.
After attending Andrew's memorial and experiencing the love and community he left behind, I knew I needed to offer my skills to help carry on his memory and his magic. I have never asked for crowdfunding before. But to do this project right, I need to give it the time it deserves, and thus need some help covering costs to make it. By contributing, you are helping to give a lasting gift to Henry and Caitlin, a token of the beauty and adventures that Andrew cherished. Let's do this together. Below is the current status of Dutt's Deschutes design. It will show the full Deschutes River from its headwaters, and highlight the key rafting and fishing segments Dutt loved. It will also show key tributaries, general topography and volcanoes, the Columbia, and the ocean and its swell beyond. I welcome any thoughts or ideas - please reach out via my website or here.
