On March 6th, 2016, a beautiful woman, mother, wife, human being took her final breath. Maria Isabel Navarro Damas lost her life after an unexpected and short lived, battle with cancer at the young age of 63.

Maria was a kind and giving woman. If you went to her neighborhood and asked who she was, everyone would tell you that she was the mother and grandmother of every single person at her apartment complex and beyond. My mother has always helped as many people as she could without ever asking for anything in return. She won the hearts of so many people after just meeting her one time. That’s the type of kind soul my mother was.

So many people will miss her but none more than her husband, who is, unfortunately, paralyzed on the left side of his body, and me her only son. Now, I’m on my own with having to cover funeral expenses. I cannot possibly afford this due to the fact that I just barely graduated college, and have been struggling with taking care of my dad and my sick mother. Not being able to find a job has also been frustrating. My mother was a wonderful human being and I wish with all my heart that I could have given her the world, unfortunately, I will never get a chance to do that.
