Dusty’s Recovery and Care
Donation protected
I want to first thank everyone who expressed concern and desire to help with Dusty this week. We are still waiting for results of some of the infectious disease and bacterial testing, but as of today, it looks more and more like an acute case of a bad reaction to Dusty eating a bird (possibly a dead one).
Kelly brought him home today (Saturday, 5/31) and while he certainly seems to have some recovering to do, he is already getting back to his sassy self. In fact, he is sitting by the side door thinking he can go outside. The answer is a resounding "NO."
Dusty received excellent care from both Scout Urgent Care in Skokie (near Old Orchard) and Veterinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn (Waukegan Road). The care and support of everyone was like a warm hug. Everyone including the doctors, nurses, aids, front desk staff, and custodians respected not only Dusty but the environment of healing. It was very powerful.
A few people asked that we do a "Go Fund Me" as they didn't know how to help otherwise. This is most thoughtful. With everything else that everyone has going on in their lives and the world around us, we are only doing this because a few friends and family asked if they could help with some of the vet bills. We would ask if you do choose to help with a donation that you might consider doing so anonymously, so as to not put any pressure on those that cannot, or don't wish to donate at this time. Please, please do not feel obligated or pressured by any means to donate. Again, there are many other causes in our small world right now that could use your help and support.
Thank you all again for thinking about him. He is such a special kitty. We adore him and all of you.
