It Takes a Village
Donation protected
Nathan and Julie Harrington are enduring the searing loss of a child and a long road to recovery with significant financial setbacks. After nine months of a healthy pregnancy, they lost their son, Abel James (8 lbs, 19 inches), in the final moments as he was lodged in the birth canal.
Julie, a teacher, let go of a position in full faith of becoming a full-time mom this fall. The insurance from her previous position ended just days before the birth. She has no income, tremendous wounds, and empty arms. Though Nate is employed, he has been off work through this and will be off work for a long time as Julie needs constant aid.
Her body endured every physical trauma that childbirth has to offer: episiotomy, cesarean, and attempted fracture of her pelvis, all for the sake of breaking open a path into life for baby Abel, unsuccessfully. Since then, unstable blood pressure and nerve damage in her leg have further impeded her mobility and lengthened her recovery.
Nathan and Julie have been a rock for so many of us—an unparalleled, selfless support system for those around them. They are invaluable people to have in your village, and they need a village right now. Let's do what their example has taught us.
