Dustin Nichols Liver Transplant Fund

Dustin Nichols was born in October 1979 with a rare liver disease. At age 7 he received a life saving liver transplant. Many people came together at that time to raise the money needed for that transplant which was truly a miraculous work of God. Now Dustin is in need of another transplant. He has insurance which will pay for the transplant but it won't pay for the process of getting the liver to him. For this he needs $56,000 up front. Dustin and wife Julie, sons Brian and Brandon along with all his family and friends would like to ask you to consider helping us raise this money.
Dustin has been working for Brookshire's company since he was in high school he currently works at Brookshire's in Hallsville. Here is the latest on his condition in his own words.
As some of you may know I have been off work and unable to drive since October. It all began in August when I noticed swelling In my ankles, legs,and thighs so I went to the doctor which they began treating with lasix. Then in October I got a 24 hour bug which ended up starting a chain reaction. A week later my wife found me unresponsive and I was rushed to the hospital which I stayed for 3 days. After numerous tests I have been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver stage 4. Which will result in me having another liver transplant. When I had my first transplant I contracted Hepatitis C which I was not tested for until 1987. I finally got it cured in 2015 I believe, but the damage was already done to my liver after 20 plus yrs of having Hepatitis C. I was always optimistic that I could beat it but I have to to face the facts now. I am by no means giving up I have made it this far when the odds were against me the first time. I have too much family behind me for that. I think the best lesson I have learned is never take anything for granted because tomorrow is never promised so I will continue on living like each day is my last.
