Dustin, Alex, & Frank Memorial at Fire FC Complex

Tax deductible
This holiday season, please join in a special opportunity to remember and honor three of our favorite people:  Dustin Phillips, Alex Bennett, and Frank Born.

These three young men, and their families, have been intertwined with us in many ways, one being the youth soccer program in Grand Junction.

The Project:

We’re challenging the “kids” and parents who were a special part of Dustin, Alex and Frank’s lives to come together in contributing $5,000 to benefit Grand Junction’s Fire FC Soccer Club (formerly GMYSA).

With this donation, there will be an honorary plaque placed on the wall at Fire FC’s new soccer facility to recognize these three young men.

How Can I Give?

Any amount you contribute is perfect, and sincerely appreciated.  We’d love to have 50 people give $100 each, or 1000 people give $5 each, or even one person give $5,000!   All funds will stay in Grand Junction and will benefit Fire FC Soccer (more on that below).

Please consider a generous gift to this effort by Tuesday, December 31.

All funds go directly to Fire FC, and you will be eligible to receive the Colorado State Enterprise Zone tax credit (as in 25%...so a $100 gift only costs you $75!) for giving.

Please help spread the word by posting/sharing this information so we can reach everyone who may want to participate.

For more information, feel free to contact Illene Roggensack ([email redacted] or [phone redacted]).

What is Grand Junction Fire FC Soccer Club and what does it do?

Formerly Grand Mesa Youth Soccer Association, the Club has been around for more than 40 years and helped 50,000+ kids learn and play the game.  In any given year, more than 1,600 kids, ages 3 to 18 years, as well as hundreds of adults participate.  Some have world-class talent and dreams of soccer stardom, while others just want to have fun and make friends.  The club is dedicated to the concept of each achieving his/her greatest potential – on the field and in the community – and becoming healthy, happy and productive citizens.

In December 2016 – having saved funds for 15 years – the Club purchased 2.1 acres of land to build out a small soccer complex for year-round use.  The facility now is open and offers:

✤         Two side-by-side indoor fields designed for 7-versus-7 play, convertible to a single full-size field for 11-versus-11 play.

✤         Staff/volunteer offices, two conference/training rooms, four restrooms and an upstairs viewing area for spectators.

✤         (Phase II of the project will provide for a small outdoor field on the site.)

Though modest in scope, the facility has immediately and significantly helped Fire FC to “grow the game.”  The new soccer center allows the Club to serve more families/children, and better than ever:

✤         The most in-demand programs are being expanded and, with ability to play into evening hours and winter months, the goal is to double the number of youth participants within three years.

✤         Year-round skills development for players, coaches and referees allows the most dedicated soccer lovers to train locally during difficult weather and thereby keep pace with those from other parts of the state and beyond.

✤         The “Growing the Game” campaign has developed new income streams and increased Fire FC’s long-term revenue-generating opportunities.  Facility ownership significantly reduces rental costs, allowing Fire FC to offer more scholarships so ALL local families have access.

✤         Fire FC is an important economic generator, bringing in additional money as families travel to Grand Junction for tournaments and similar events hosted in the new facility.

A final fundraising push helps to minimize long-term debt on the new facility.  Donations also may be designated to soccer operations and/or youth scholarships.
