Durham is hurting, and healing starts with community. The Community Cookout series is a grassroots, community-led initiative created to unify residents of Durham and align resources to be extended to those most impacted by gun violence and housing instability. We are seeking partnerships with as many established non profits as possible to bring the most resources to our neighbors that we can.
The first Community Cookout & Conversation in Cornwallis had a phenomenal turnout. Hundreds of plates were served to the community and resources lined the block ready to interact with the public they serve. Free clothes were given away and the children played freely and in organized sports. It was a wonderful evening full of love, support and dialogue.
We are now looking to bring the same experience to Hoover Rd on Saturday, April 25th.
