Dundalk Half Marathon 30.03.25 for Endometriosis Ireland
Hi all I am going to be taking part in the Dundalk half Marathon on the 30.03.25, and I'm raising money in aid of The Endometriosis Association of Ireland to try and promote and raise more awareness around this condition. Any donation will help make an impact.
The Endometriosis Association of Ireland: Endometriosis Association of Ireland - provides information and support to those living with endometriosis in Ireland. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women worldwide.
Endometriosis is a chronic medical condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) grows outside the uterus, often on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and other organs within the pelvis. This abnormal growth can cause inflammation, pain, and sometimes the formation of scar tissue or adhesions. The severity of symptoms can vary, but common ones include pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and infertility. Endometriosis can significantly impact a person's quality of life, and while the exact cause remains unclear, factors such as genetics, immune system dysfunction, and hormonal imbalances may contribute.
Treatment options range from pain management and hormonal therapies to multiple surgeries needed over a patients lifetime depending on the severity and individual circumstances.
