Duncan's Medical Bills
Donation protected
On February 19, 2019 my sister’s 18-month old son had a very unfortunate and heartbreaking accident. Duncan ran into the kitchen, grabbed a fresh cup of hot tea off the counter and spilled it over his face, neck and chest. My sister jumped in to action quickly. She removed his shirt and got him into the shower to let cold water run over him until which time paramedics arrived to take him to Carle Foundation Hospital. While at Carle he was stabilized and was transported via Carle’s pediatric ambulance to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL where he spent several days in their pediatric ICU where the plastics surgery doctor diagnosed him with 1st and 2nd degree burns on 8% of his body. Those first several days were filled with lots of tears as the doctors tried to manage his pain and performed several dressing changes to assess the burns, which continue to progress up to a week after the initial burn. Doctors allowed Duncan to return home within several days of being in the hospital as they could see that our mother and my sister were very capable of caring for Duncan and his wounds. Duncan is very happy to be out of the hospital and on the long road to recovery in the comfort of his own home.
I am starting this GoFundMe page to help my sister and her family with medical bills as they rack up from the ambulance rides, hospital stays and the likeliness that Duncan will need a skin graft on parts of his wounds. Any assistance that you are able to provide is helpful and more than words can describe greatly appreciated.
