So when Justin suggested we have very little sleep over 36 hours, walk the equivalent distance of a marathon whilst climbing over 10,000 feet we should have put the phone down.
We didn't because a) we like a challenge and b) we saw an opportunity to raise some money for a great cause.
So on the 14th June we'll be setting off from Essex and heading off the adventure which is the National Three Peaks Challenge. As you may know this involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon) and just for a laugh we are doing all that within 24 hours!!
Now some of the money raised will go top the lovely people at Essex Boys Club who are being kind enough to be our guide on this trip. They support a membership of around 120 independent voluntary youth groups and grassroots sports clubs and provide diversionary activities for more than fifteen thousand 11-19 year olds and advice for over 1,000 volunteers.
The rest of the money will go to Prostate Cancer UK, the UK’s biggest public funder of prostate cancer research, driving forward major improvements in diagnosis and treatment. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 1 in 8 men will get it and Prostate Cancer UK' s mission is a future where no man dies of prostate cancer.
We've chosen this charity as one of our number, Duncan, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer last year and we really feel that we would like to do something to support the mission of Prostate Cancer UK.
