Dunbar Elementary School fire fund
One of California's oldest elementary schools was just beginning to celebrate 160 years serving the Glen Ellen community when it was caught in the fires ravaging Sonoma County.
My name is Chris, and my wife Rebecca and I are parents of a Dunbar 2nd grader, as well as PTO board members.
This fund intends to raise money for the following:
-Rebuilding Dunbar's outdoor stage under the oaks, which was completely destroyed. The stage is the home of our 5th grade play; perhaps our most cherished tradition!
-Rebuilding the teaching garden which was severely burned, including chicken coop, fencing, garden beds, sheds, and purchasing new garden tools and plants
-Restoring and replenishing the Kindergarten play area, which was destroyed in the fire. The district should provide a new standard play structure, but the kids will need additional enrichment items, like a playhouse, sandbox, balls, etc.
This money will be given to the FODS (Friends of Dunbar School) PTO who will work in partnership with the school administration to work toward the above goals.
The heart of a community lies within its schools. Please help our children have a safe and wecoming environment to come back to after these devestating fires have changed their lives. Dunbar needs us! The school will endure!!!
