Midnight on Sunday just gone we received a distressing call about a little dog badly injured on a roadside. The finder was unable to pick the dog up because he was growling with pain. We put out a plea here on Facebook for help and within an hour some of the kindest people responded.

Alex & Dwayne brought the dog to the emergency out of hours vet in Kildare. It was discovered he had taken a severe blow to the face, one of his eyes bleeding and half closed. The vet also found a "docking ring" on his little tail. Not only illegal, but disgraceful disgusting and evil.

He was discharged to rest for a few days on pain relief & antibiotics.

His tail can't be saved it was too far gone and infected so will have to be amputated

On Xrays there 'miraculously doesn't appear to be any broken bones, however he is very badly brused and hugely sore and sensitive on one side especially.

The vets opinion was that he got a very bad smack from something, not necessarily a car but possibly dropped out from a moving car Or thrown / kicked by force. Given the injuries and docking ring, the pain this little dog was in is unimaginable. Just down right cruel...

This little dog weighs only 5.5kg he is so small.

He is currently being kept in the Vets since yesterday with a high temperature, he is on pain medication and fluids. He is absolutely exhausted and just wants to hide in his bed.

Cara rescue dogs was initially set up specifically for sick, injured, vulnerable, very old-young dogs.

How many places do you know that could offer help at midnight before a bank holiday? Mon-fri 9-5 is the usual.

Animal abuse doesn't happen after 5pm on a Friday??
