Hello everyone!

On Tuesday 9/30 I saw a post on Ring that a Good Samaritan had found this little Frenchie pup that had been dumped on the side of the road not too far from me. I went over to check it out and this baby was not only dumped, he had a rectal prolapse, was very underweight, terrible skin, toe infection, dehydrated and overall in rough shape. I chose to take him with me as animal control just pulled up and was about to take him. No microchip, no lost posts to be found.

I made him an appointment for the following morning (the soonest my vet could get me in) but in the midnight hour of 10/1 he started to decline. I rushed him to the closest ER vet (True Care For Pets) who had availability to see him and got him a work up. Parvo test, extensive GI panel, bloodwork, XRays, fluids, medications, and prolapse resection.

It was discovered that his liver levels were elevated and suspected he may have a liver shunt considering he’s only around 6 months and in such deplorable condition. More testing was needed. With no other option, we took the risk of still doing the procedure to correct the prolapse and he made it through. This guy is a fighter. It was also discovered that his testies were still up and had not descended when they should have. This means a more complex neuter down the road.

We have a follow up appointment in a few days and are awaiting the results of the GI panel and the rest of the liver testing to see where we go from here.

He is not out of the woods but without this vetting he would not have had a chance. Please consider helping us get him healthy so he can eventually find his forever home that will give him a life he deserves! Thank you!
