Update July 5, 2018
Drew's brave battle with esophageal cancer has ended. This morning he passed away in the arms of his loving wife, Lisa. Drew was so grateful to his co-workers, community, neighbors, and friends for the support you all have shown to his family while he battled cancer. Let's come together again and help Lisa, Grace (11) and Jack (12). As you know, Drew worked hard... until he couldn't anymore. The spread of his tumors from his esophagus to his lungs to his bronchial tube made it impossible for him to continue. The family desperately needs our help as they face the expenses of the medical bills, funeral, and just life in general now that Drew is gone. Thank you for anything you can contribute. It is so appreciated.
Update from 2017
Hi all,
It is with a heavy heart that I post this update. Drew Dumont's recent scans show that the chemo and radiation was not successful and that the cancer has metastasized to his lungs. This is causing increasing pain in his chest as well as difficulty breathing. As someone whose livelihood is building/carpentry you can imagine the devastating impact Drew's cancer is causing financially as he suffers from this pain and exhaustion and is unable to work as much as he needs to in order to support his family. Although still trying chemo, the results are not promising. He is focusing more on simply managing the pain. Lisa continues to teach through this difficult time. Her thoughts are now of not if the cancer will take her children's father, but how soon.

The Dumont family needs our help! Drew, Lisa, Grace (9) and Jack (10) are experiencing a very difficult time. As many of you know, Drew was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After receiving treatment and undergoing surgery, he and his family were thrilled that the cancer was in remission. Unfortunately, they recently discovered that the cancer has returned and spread to Drew’s lungs and lymph nodes. Although the doctors and Lisa and Drew are discussing a different form of chemo and targeted radiation, the prognosis is grim due to the aggressive nature of the cancer.
In addition to this devastating news, the family is struggling financially as Drew is unable to work and Lisa works a seasonal teaching job. They are unable to stay in their current home and cannot afford to move into another. Fortunately, their church is welcoming the Dumonts to the Sabbath house where they can stay while they try to get through this difficult period and get back on their feet. However, the family needs our help to buy food, pay for gas, and pay for Drew's medical expenses.
Thank you in advance for coming together to support the Dumont family!
