Dukes Palliative Care

Hi my name is Steph I am raising money for my 10 year old dog called Duke. Duke has Sarcoma Cancer which is a cancer that forms in tissues within the dogs body. Duke was seeing specialists and having regular vet appointments about what we believed was a mass on his rib cage at the time.

The mass has come back after several tests as a tumor for Sarcoma Cancer. Obviously I am completely devastated we had plans to have the mass removed and raised money for the surgery.

We saw the specialist for our pre operation appointment on 2nd Feb 2024. To be told the mass is actually a tumor and he has cancer. This was really hard to hear. What made matters worse is the cancer could of spread to his bones and other areas internally. Because of this they decided not to go ahead with the operation to remove the tumor. If we had gone ahead with removing the tumor he would have high risk of infection and if he survived the surgery he would most likely pass to infection. If the vets operated and found it had spread internally then they wouldn't of woken Duke up and that would of been it for him.

I want to give Duke his best possible outcome and end of life. The vets and myself agree other than his tumor he is a happy and healthy dog who isn't giving up! We are on a pain management plan for Duke and we will be continuing that until Duke is unable to carry on or if the tumor gains in size which could result in breaking of his skin.

I want to do right by Duke so all donations will go towards his pain relief , vet appointments , follow ups and eventually his end of life. He will be cremated and his ashes will be returned to me because of his anxiety he will need medication and sedation before this can go ahead.
