Hi everyone!

I’m Dukes mommy as many of you know, and I'm here to tell you Dukes story. We recently noticed Dukes behavior change, he did not want to eat (and Dukes favorite thing to do is eat) and all he wanted to do was sleep. He did not want to go on his long adventures, or even for his normal walks. Duke is only FIVE years old and is the best dog, and deserves the best possible treatment we can get him so please I urge you to keep reading, and here our story.

Duke was having trouble breathing, and we held him all night, scared something very bad was happening. Immediately we brought him to the walk in clinic in Portland, ME. After $800.00 we did not have any answers besides he needed to be rushed to the emergency hospital in Scarborough, ME. All we knew as we rushed Dukey to the emergency room was that the X-ray from the prior place saw a large mass in his chest and built up fluid around his lungs. As any dog owner, you start to panic, and we felt hopeless. After sitting in the car all day praying, and $3,000 later we still have minimal answers, but we are told it is most likely cancer (we are waiting for the final lab reports). Our poor boy had to stay the night, and we did every test under the sun to get more and more answers. The mass is pushing against his trachea preventing proper breathing, so even if a miracle happens and it is benign we will still need to treat and remove the mass, while taking care of the built up fluid from the mass.

Duke is the most incredible dog with such a big heart, personality, and love for all humans. He is my protector and my best friend/son and my whole family is asking for any help to help give Duke his life back.

He is overall a happy, healthy dog and we are in so much shock and distress and can use your help.
