The Duke Park Community Mural Project will produce one mural designed and painted by a local artist. The mural will exist on the 1,000-square-foot wall located at the tennis park in The Duke Park Neighborhood. The community-based project will acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of Durham through art. Our mural committee, made up of nine Durham locals, hopes that all viewers will be able to connect with it in some way. We need your help to raise $10,500 to cover the artist’s time and supplies to depict a powerful, and accurate representation of Durham. Our project was granted a permit from the City of Durham Parks and Recreation, and the projected launch date is fall of 2021.
We appreciate donations at any level ($15, $35, $50, $100, $150, or more)! If you cannot donate, please share this Gofundme! We will seek community input with socially-distanced door-to-door visits, online surveys, drop boxes, social media, newsletters, listservs, and park events. If you are interested in finding out more about this project, find us on Instagram, facebook, or flyers posted around Duke Park and the Duke Park neighborhood.
