Kiwi's ACL Repair Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Emma and I'm from Austin Texas. I've lived here since I was 6 years old, so the weird, animal loving, and overly caring side in me is strong. I am a college student, a nanny, and a server and don't make enough to pay for her surgery up front.
This was the first day I met Kiwi. Her name was Tipsy at the time and she belonged to a friend of my brothers. When my brothers friend could no longer keep her he came straight to us to see if we would like to make her our own, and after loosing a dog only months before my parents and I were all in.
The Blue Heeler, as you may know, is a very active, protective and loyal breed. Kiwi and I would go to the Greenbelt all the time to hike and swim together. She is quite the swimmer, She loves to chase the frisbee and ball of course, as most dogs do :) My dad was throwing the ball for her the other day when she hurt herself. He says she jumped up to catch the ball and landed wrong and since then she has been limping. (4 weeks now)
She won't put any pressure on her back right leg. We took her to our vet and learned she has a torn ACL and the only way she will ever walk normally agian is if we have her ACL surgically repaired.
The money, if any, I raise will go to her surgery. I read about options on post surgery physical therapy, which I will most likely do myself, but if enough is raised I would be able to hire a professional.
I am aware that everyone says this but Kiwi is my best friend. She is only 4 years old and seeing her locked in the kennel all day (which is the solution to no surgery) is heart breaking. As for every surgery, the sooner the better. I would love to see her in recovery tomorrow but that is not yet an option. I hope to be able to take her on a walk, or to the park agian some day soon.
I know it is a long shot but if anyone has a few extra dollars it would be amazing to get her into surgery as soon as I can. I only have around 1/6 of what I need, but I won't stop hoping and saving until I can get her happy and healthy again.
All of my Love (and Kiwi's),
Emma
