Dug's Upcoming Surgery
Donation protected
There are moments in everyone's life when they need some help, and this is one of those moments for me. Meet Dug (short for Dugout, he's a baseball fan). He is a 3 1/2 year old, 110 pound Golden Retriever/Great Dane rescue, and is a big ball of happy energy.
Recently, I let him outside into my backyard, and he launched himself off my back steps to chase a rabbit, as he usually does. Except this time, he slipped and belly-flopped the landing. He was immediately in pain. He is having a hard time walking, and is very wobbly, especially in his back legs. He occasionally collapses in extreme pain.
Upon taking him to the vet, it was initially thought that he had a fractured neck. However, after conducting an MRI, it was discovered that he actually has a compressed spinal cord; something the vet said he's probably had his entire life and is not uncommon in great danes. The incident just exacerbated the problem.
He is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, November 14. Between what I've already put in for care, and the impending surgery, the low end total is $12K, with the high end being $14K. Here's to hoping for the low end. I'm not looking to raise all the money, rather just trying to offset as much as I can, because for a lot of people (myself included) that is a LOT of money.
I appreciate anyone who can help, and if you choose not to contribute to this cause, please consider donating to either https://www.secondhandhounds.org/ (that's where Dug came from) or https://www.savingdanes.org/ .
Thank you in advance, and please send positive vibes for a successful surgery and recovery.
