Our friend and neighbor David Dugan, suffered a devastating loss on July 7th. David lives in a mobile home in Brea with his son, Trevor. David has been a single parent of Trevor since the death of his wife, Kimberly, a few years years ago when Trevor was just a young boy.
There was a futile attempt of vandalism on his car in the carport early one morning which resulted in David renting another vehicle (2017 Dodge Challenger) so he could get to work. Early in the wee hours of the next morning David was awakened to a very loud explosion of this same car, resulting in the rental car burning to the ground along with his mobile home, which is not inhabitable. His late wife’s dear cat was overcome by the smoke and they lost their dog. Luckily they were able to locate the dog several miles away.
When David's wife was alive it took every dollar they had to buy her necessary medication to keep her alive and no homeowner’s insurance was purchased at that time. So here they are; no home, no furniture, no cat and driving another rental car hoping it doesn’t blow up also!
The fire inspectors are taking their time determining if it was arson or car defect, we pray to God things work themselves out soon. David is staying with a friend but misses his son terribly since he’s with another family member right now. David petitioned at least 20 attorneys to handle this case but they seem to think there’s not enough in it for them because there was no personal injury.
I felt moved to do what I can to help one of our own, which is why I am creating this gofundme. I am hoping that David's BREA neighbors and friends help by donating what they can to help David get back on his feet and to reunite him with his son. This will be Trevor's Junior year and we would really like to see him back at BOHS where he belongs.
$5, $10, $25, or even a share will help us meet our goal. This is what COMMUNITY is about, let's pull together to help one of our own in need.
Funds will be used to secure a new residence for the Dugan men and replace items lost in the fire.
Thank you and God Bless
