Dug Needs Us: Help Cover His Medical Costs
Donation protected
My name is Trinh and I’m organizing this on behalf of my roommate, Bailey.
Recently, Bailey decided to adopt Dug, a 3-month-old Maltese Mix puppy, from a friend for his dad, but his plan was to keep him with us for a few months to settle him down in a new environment and help train him. We picked up Dug on July 10th from his owner. We were unaware of his living situation, and we noticed that he was lethargic and malnourished, and we also found ticks on him. We rushed him to the vet as soon as possible. Multiple tests, lab work, fluids, and medications were given to him. The vet informed us that his hematocrit was critically low and he had contracted anaplasmosis due to the tick infestation, and we needed to rush him to the ER as soon as possible for blood transfusions. Upon arrival at the ER, he was taken in right away for assessment and treatment. The ER vet let us know that his abdomen was extremely distended due to the decrease in perfusion, and all the protein and fluids had accumulated in his abdomen, so they would also need to drain it out. Because of this, his protein level was extremely low, so they would also need to do a plasma transfusion on top of blood transfusions. We agreed and proceeded with all the procedures that needed to be done for him.
Dug is currently at the hospital fighting for a chance at life, and we want to do everything in our power to make that happen. We are all really big dog lovers in this household, and we’re trying our best to give this poor baby everything that we can, and we don’t want to give up just yet.
Medical expenses and vet bills have been extremely high, and we’re giving everything we have to be able to save Dug. We’re asking for any amount of donation so that we can continue this battle to help Dug, and all donations will go towards prior and any future medical expenses for him. We really appreciate any help that we can get. Thank you for listening to Dug’s story and for supporting him through this journey.
