DUDDON AND FURNESS MRT PERMENANT BASE FUNDRAISER

We are a hiking and wild camping group on Facebook, and have decided to raise money to help one of the local mountain rescue teams raise money for their new permanent base.

These guys deserve a well equipped base of their own, so people like me and you can be rest assured knowing if we’re ever in difficulty help is never to far away !! 

The Permanent Base

Having purchased a plot of land adjacent to our current rental base at Foxfield in April 2023, after many years of negotiation over land access, plans have progresses relatively swiftly. Planning permission has been signed off and the design finalised. The tender process will take place in the near year with a target to complete the build during 2024. While significant funds have been raised, and many thanks to those who have contributed, costs have also risen significantly since the Pandemic leaving a shortfall to complete a main build, which is operationally usable, of about £150,000. A further £50,000 is needed to compete the 'nice to have' fit out, including sustainable energy. While several funders are being approached which we hope will cover the lion's share of this there is no doubt that wider fundraising will be needed to complete the project.
