CF Yokosuka Walk/Shunko Gakuen

Donation protected
Shunko Gakuen is a children's home located in Koyabe, Yokosuka City which provides a home for Japanese children separated from their families for one reason or the other. Currently, 80 children, 2-18 years of age reside in the home. In 1945, 40 orphans were disembarked at Seaside Park near JR Yokosuka Train Station, after their long trip of repatriation from China and Southeast Asia. The Orphans were moved into the former U.S. Navy Bachelor Officer Quarters and soon after, Navy Seabees from the Public Works Center at Yokosuka Naval Base provided support to the children by constructing playgrounds, repairing the building, and volunteering in many ways. Today, that same support continues through a variety of local U.S. Navy volunteer associations.

CrossFit Yokosuka wants to team up with the U.S. Navy in providing international friendship and financial support for the children of Shunko Gakuen. CrossFit Yokosuka is a diverse group of athletes ranging from active-duty military, spouses, to DoD civilians coming together to raise money for educational scholarships for children at Shunko Gakuen. On October 11-13 there will be a walk-a-thon; 100 miles over a 3-day period.
