The Centre Furnace Mansion needs your help.

The Centre County Historical Society (CCHS) is urgently seeking donations to help respond to a water line emergency.  Nearly 300 feet of antiquated water line, outside of the Centre Furnace Mansion in State College, PA deteriorated, leaked thousands of gallons of water and must be replaced. The broken water line runs under sections of the brick walkways that must also be replaced. This comes at considerable cost and these unexpected expenses have hit us at a time when we have been closed due to COVID-19 and could not hold our usual fundraisers.  Without these repairs to get our water back on, we would be unable to reopen the Mansion when it is safe to do so.Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this ironmaster’s mansion, now the Centre Furnace Mansion is a house museum that is free and open to the public year-round and serves over 5000 visitors including hundreds of elementary students annually. The Mansion and surrounding grounds stand as a testament to two of the most important economic and developmental facets of Centre County history: the 18th century origins of the iron making industry and the 19th century founding of the Pennsylvania State University. 
CCHS is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help people to understand, experience, appreciate, and preserve our county’s cultural and natural heritage. We do this through the preservation of the Centre Furnace Mansion and Boogersburg School historic sites where we host ongoing programming, preserve archival and museum collections and provide public access to these resources.
