Ducky's Emergency Fight to Save His Life

Ducky was bit on his back right leg by a poisonous snake (either a Rattlesnake or a Copperhead) in Pennsylvania on June 6, 2022. He was rushed to Shores Veterinary Emergency Services. He recieved antivenin, antibiotics, pain medication, & was hospitalized overnight on IV fluids. On June 7, Duck was released from the hospital & his care was to continue at home. His leg was now three time as large as before he was given the antivenin. At home, he quickly declined and had to be rushed back to Shores. He had a high fever, wouldn't eat, had labored breathing, didn't want to open his eyes, couldn't stand and would just collapse if you tried to help him get up, was peeing himself, and his puncture was gushing out blood/ puss. On June 8, he was transferred to Penn Vet where he is still continuing his care. He was in their ER until June 9 when they moved him to their surgical department. Ducky has had to have an X-Ray and an Ultrasound to make sure he did not have sepsis in his joints and to make sure the abscess under his wound did not spread further up his leg. He also had to have EKG to make sure he was able to undergo anesthesia, where they found a heart murmur. They have had to open his leg to drain the puss to eliminate further infection. He continues to fight for his health daily and he is being closely monitored to make sure his muscle does not die around the bite, which would require further, more intensive surgery. 

So far, his balance for care/ hospitalization has been $7,839.95.
