Ducks Surgery Bill

Hi, my name is Ugly Duck, and I weigh just 2.8kg—but don’t let my size fool you, because my problems are anything but small!

After a month of my mum and dad tirelessly taking me to the vet—trying different medications for what they thought was kennel cough—I finally had surgery (which cost £1,700). That’s when we got the heartbreaking news: I have a Grade 3 tracheal collapse, meaning 75% of my airway is blocked.

Despite all the treatments (which added up to £309), nothing helped. But my parents didn’t give up. They pushed for more answers, and that’s how we found out what was really going on. I’m so lucky to have them in my corner.

Now, I urgently need another surgery to have a stent placed in my trachea so I can breathe properly again. The operation will cost between £6,000 and £8,000 and has to be done at a specialist hospital.

Unfortunately, my insurance won’t cover it—we already maxed it out earlier this year when I accidentally ate a chicken bone on a walk (don’t ask… I know, I know).
