Duckie's Kidneys Are Failing at 3 Years Old
Donation protected
Hello.
On Wednesday, June 11th, we took our youngest cat, Duckie, to the vet for suspected gingivitis and a possible upper respiratory infection. The vet told us Duckie was pretty sick, but there was no calcium build up on her teeth and no obvious reason for gingivitis, and that there was no upper respiratory issues so she couldn't explain the watery eyes and runny nose either. We got antibiotics and a de-wormer just in case while we waited for the blood work to come back. The next day, the clinic called to tell us that Duckie's kidneys are failing, but that no infection was showing through the blood work. We rushed her back to get her IV fluids and a urinalysis. The urinalysis also showed no infection, only that her kidney output wasn't working correctly. Friday we went back for a full day of IV fluids. This coming Monday, we have to take her back to retest her kidney levels after flushing them, but they don't have much hope that will fix the issue. In the meantime, we are waiting for a call to schedule an ultrasound at a specialty vet hospital in Charlottesville. The vet bills have already reached the thousands in three days, and it's going to go up from here.
If you have the means to donate towards Duckie's vet bills, we are humbly asking for help. Our cats are our babies, the same a human child would be.
Thank you.
