Duckets for Dennis-our fight vs. terminal cancer
Donation protected
Dennis Tedesco, at only 40 years of age, is in need of financial assistance with medical and family expenses while he begins and continues the fight of his life!! Very recently, Dennis was diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 colon cancer with mets to the liver and lungs
Three weeks ago, on the day before a long overdue vacation was to start, Dennis made an unexpected visit to the emergency room. During his 10 hour visit, and countless tests performed, it was found that he had a large mass in his colon and multiple lesions on his liver, which was highly indicative of cancer.
He spent his entire vacation, with the help of hospital, setting up follow up appointments with specialists such as a Gastroenterologist and his Primary doctors. Navigating those waters were tough and unsettling; not knowing what was to befall him, but with help and support, was able to get them set up.
On Monday Sept 13th, Dennis met with his Gastroenterologist for the first time. While no tests were performed this day, the doctor expressed the urgency of this matter and immediately scheduled an Emergency Colonoscopy for the following morning.
Dennis arrived at the hospital 20 minutes earlier than expected for his scheduled colonoscopy with a hazy mind from all of the information still being processed, and tired from the preparation. The procedure went almost as planned, as there were complications during the prep, caused by the mass in his colon. When he awoke, and after the sedation wore off, he was admitted to the hospital...That was Tuesday Sept 14th, and that was just the beginning of his 8 day stay in the hospital.
The next day, Dennis was visited by a new doctor; a surgeon, and was informed of a looming surgery in the very near future. Date was to be determined based of the results of a biopsy performed during the colonoscopy. By Thursday Sept 16th, Dennis had a procedure to obtain a liver sample for screening. The results from the colonoscopy were in, and our worst fears were confirmed....Stage 4 colon cancer!
On Friday Sept 17th, Dennis was added onto the surgeon's schedule for a colon resection, a procedure to remove the cancerous mass and any affected surrounding colon tissue. He also met with a team of Oncologists, that were diligently working on a plan of treatment most effective for his diagnosis, which would be fine tuned with the study of the colonic mass after its removal.
Over the next 4 days, Dennis recovered from surgery, and was sent home on Wed Sept 22nd, and to the beginning of the real battle.
Next week, we will be meeting with the oncologist to discuss a very aggressive chemo plan.
Unfortunately, for the foreseeable future Dennis will be unable to work. While we do have insurance, this only covers portions of the medical expenses and without the added income, there will be much struggle to even pay daily bills.
