Dublin - Thurles cycle for Ugandan School Fees
Donation protected
In 2010, Cian and Caitríona met a group of 30 former child soldiers in Aloi, Uganda. They had been abducted by Joseph Kony and the Lord's Resistance Army, and were, at the time, struggling to settle back into their villages. Many of them no longer had family members alive. In 2013 and 2018, Cian and Caitríona returned and made a commitment to sponsor the school and college fees of the former child soldiers, at a cost of €10,000 per year. Education is the one thing they all requested help with, because they had missed out on so much while being used child soldiers.
Cian and Caitríona continue to work directly with the schools/colleges in Aloi and Lira where these pupils attend, and ALL money raised goes directly towards their school fees. These young people are doing incredibly well at the moment, and your continued support for them is really appreciated. Some of these young people are now completing the end of their studies in dress-making, mechanical engineering, construction, nursing and teaching - all thanks to the donations that have been made to this cause in recent years!
Our annual fundraising cycle (from Dublin - Thurles) will take place on Saturday April 27th and we are hoping to raise €2,000 for the school fees from this event, with the support of a number of people cycling on the day! We would love your support for the cyclists and for this cause and all donations are gratefully appreciated!
Many, many thanks,
Caitríona & Cian
