Endas Story
I work with Sandra and am truly honoured to run the 2025 Dublin City Marathon on the October Bank Holiday weekend in Sandra's son Mark's memory.

Sandra was very supportive to me when my father passed away in November 2023 after a short illness. I respectfully asked Sandra to tell me about her beautiful son Mark as although my father died suddenly he had a full and Happy Life.

I couldn't and can't comprehend the loss of a child or teenager and believe that as much peace and solace is paramount to support families living through childhood cancer.

Please kindly support the 3 very worthy chosen charities to help comfort families presently living through childhood cancer.

Marks Story
Mark was a normal 1st year student going about teenage life just like any other, however in January 2013, he began to complain about pains in his joints and feel unwell. After attending his local doctor, he was admitted to hospital and underwent some blood tests. Within 2 days Mark was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Words no one wants to hear. What followed was a whirlwind of treatment including blood & platelet transfusions. There were also many hospital visits and stays. Thankfully Mark recovered and went into remission towards the end of the year, and it all seemed very positive.

Sadly, Marks cancer returned in November 2015. This time along with more aggressive treatment, Mark underwent a bone marrow transplant. This meant long stays in hospital in total isolation from everyone. Despite the bleakness of the situation, Mark remained positive through the times. Mark passed away quietly and peacefully in March 2017.

During Marks illness he had a very positive attitude and embraced life and spoke openly around his experience. His journey he was supported by many and 3 charities that really made a difference in the challenging days were Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, Make-A-Wish and the Childhood Cancer Ireland.

Any funds raised for this event will be divided between these charities.
