Duane's lung transplant

Lets Help Mira and Duane!

Duane Phelps is 49 years old. He is a wonderful husband, father figure and an awesome PAPA. Duane is married to Mira. He has interstitial lung disease and had a bout with pneumonia in 2016, and never recovered from it. Later, Duane was diagnosed with RA and it began attacking his already compromised lungs. Duane contracted Covid in 2020, further damaging his lungs and now he needs a lung transplant. Duane and Mira made the journey to Vanderbilt to be assessed and placed on the list for a transplant. The lung transplant doctors have stated his prognosis is not good if he does not get the lung transplant soon. After extensive testing at Vanderbilt, it was determined that due to an issue with his esophagus, Duane did not meet their criteria. Vanderbilt is working with transplant centers in the US to see if Duane is a candidate for their higher-risk programs. Duane and Mira have many burdens right now as they navigate this difficult journey. Travel expenses and astronomical medical bills are piling up.

Mira works for Houston Healthcare Physician Services and often picks up extra shifts on the weekends at the hospital to make ends meet. Mira is a bright light to many in our community and helps anyone that she can. Now, it's time for us to help her and her precious family.
