Friends and family,
This summer, in five weeks, I will be going on a mission trip to La Esperanza, Honduras through Beyond Partnership from Friday, June 26 - Sunday, July 5, and I am graciously asking for assistance with making it happen. I am slightly struggling with why it's obviously not acceptable to ask for help with going on a week-long vacation, but why it is highly encouraged when it comes to mission trips. The difference, obviously, is the spiritual aspect of it.
The total cost is $1,900, and any help you can assist me with would be directly going to the Hondurans. About half the cost goes towards the flight, while the rest is for construction supplies for the building of a church structure, food, and cheap motel stays. The Hondurans average a paltry $5 a day in earnings, so the construction of a decent building may take months or even years to complete. With our help, the Hondurans can have a place to worship God and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ within just a matter of weeks.
The trip is headed up by Matt McGladdery and his wife Muffy, who proudly takes credit for laying the foundation of my reading ability back at Mokelumne River. Besides leading this trip for the past nine years, the McGladderys host a community group with our church Remedy and lead a group of people with providing dinner for locals at the Salvation Army every other month. They know what they are doing, and they completely trust the Honduran pastors Erick Sanchez, Isiais Cantarero, and Jorge Lagos. In addition to providing them with the funds and a few able bodies to construct a building, some of our team will be joining them in a VBS-type program for the children in the community. Our days come to an end with bi-lingual worship under the stars and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ from another country.
If you are unable to help out financially, prayer is very much needed. Pray for a safe flight, health, little to no rain, an abundance of children for the VBS, and for God to work in our hearts and theirs. Pray that God will be shown and glorified while on this trip.
