Duane cancer fund
Donation protected
Hi my name is Duane Soroko. I was born and raised in Estevan. In my early life, I left Estevan and went to work in the United States. I have since returned and worked in the oilfield for many years.
I am the oldest child of six born to Ernie and Madeline Soroko. In March of 2017, I had a sore throat so I went to the doctor and I couldn’t find out what was wrong. I continued to go to the doctor as my throat kept getting sore and I couldn’t swallow. Between March and August, my doctor sent me to various specialists until I was finally diagnosed with throat cancer on August 2, 2017 and we then continued onto our nieces’ wedding on August long weekend. After that, I started a journey of trips to Saskatoon and Regina for various doctor appointments, to get a tube in my stomach, and more recently for chemo and radiation, staying at the cancer lodge during the weeks and then coming home to Estevan on the weekends. My journey is far from complete, with more appointments to come.
Because of the many trips to specialists, rent, utility bills and with more trips to come, we are appreciative of any small donations that would help us during this time, since I haven’t been able to work and am not sure when I will be able to return to work.
Thank-you
