On Christmas my husband started getting sick and we thought it was just a part of a common cold. On December 29th, I took him to the hospital and they diagnosed him with Pharyngitis.
A couple days passed and my husband kept getting worse and worse. On New Year’s Day we took him to Montclair Hospital, and once again, the doctors just sent him home with more medications. But as the night went on, things just really kept escalating. We had to take him back to the hospital that same night, and that was when he was was diagnosed with diabetes for the very first time. He was then transfered to a the UC Irvine hospital to be treated.
That was where they found a lesion in his throat, which led to a fungus called Mucormycosis Rhinosinusitis. It’s a disease so extremely rare that most of the medical team had neither heard of nor seen any cases like it.
Appearantly his diabetes was not letting the lesion in his throat heal, so it became a fungus infection that traveled to the back of his brain, causing a couple of strokes. He is now blind in one eye, deaf in one ear, and is constantly seizures.
The doctor told us that none of the treatments had worked, and so this was soon going to kill him. They said he has only weeks to a month to live and they sent him home with hospice care.
I am currently pregnant with our second child and due anyday now, so I cannot work. He was the sole provider for our family and can no longer work to provide for us due to his conditions and short time to live.
With our baby almost here, a 2 yr old daughter, a ton of medical bills piling up, and having to unexpectedly plan for a funeral, ANYTHING will help right now!
On behalf of my husband’s dying wishes, I would also like to spread awareness on this: ALWAYS get a check up on your health!! Diabetes is a hell of a disease that leads to many different issues that are life threatening. Your age and weight don’t matter. It can happen to anyone.
Thanks in advance to everyone for any and all donations, along with FB shares.
