Hi, I’m Wilfredo, Layla’s grandfather. My family and I are hoping to raise funds on behalf of my daughter Lesley. Layla’ is Lesley’s youngest daughter. Layla is a sweet little bubbly 1 year old, who has been battling cancer for half of her life. She was diagnosed at 6 months with a rare cancerous brain tumor, choroid plexus carcinoma grade III.
On 2/28/22, Layla was treated at Baystate Medical Center ER for vomiting. Then she was discharged the next morning and in the evening she became unresponsive at home. Layla was rushed back to the ER and a CT scan was done and it showed a large brain tumor and swelling. She was stabilized and intubated. Layla was then transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital on 3/2/22. She underwent surgery on 3/7/22 to have the tumor removed. Layla’s cancer spread to the near by brain tissue, brain stem, and spinal cord.
Layla is currently receiving chemotherapy through an Ommaya reservoir and a central venous line. (An Ommaya reservoir is a small device implanted in her brain so the oncologist can administer chemo directly to the fluid around the brain and spinal cord. The central venous line allows chemo to be administered into the bloodstream.) The last MRI was negative for new tumors. Where the cancer spread to has responded well to chemo and decreased in size!!
Layla is a strong little girl!! Her journey has not been an easy one but my family and I stand by her side. She does not have to fight this battle alone!
Any donation is greatly appreciated! If you are not able to contribute please share this link and please keep Layla in your prayers. On behalf of my family and I, we thank you.
